A team of ranks from the SWAT Unit has been dispatched to “B” Division (Berbice) to support the Division in its policing strategy, the police said today. The move comes amid continuing bandit attacks in the region including one at No.48 Village, Corentyne earlier this week. In that attack, the bandits carved a hole in a wooden wall to enter a house and beat, terrorized and robbed the family. They fled but not before a shoot-out with the police. That exchange of gunfire left a police vehicle with bullet holes.
