With several teams still in contention for a place in the knockout round, the final group fixtures in the inaugural GT Beer Futsal Championship will commence today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue with four matchups.
The opening matchup at 19:00hrs will be a matchup between the winless group-B sides when traditional giant Alexander Village lock horns with Globe Yard.
Group-A will then take centre stage in the second fixture from 19:45hrs, when leaders Festival City faces off with the second placed Kitty Weavers for control of the group in a very important encounter.
Action in group-A will continue in the third fixture at 21:00hrs when third positioned Agricola lock horns with cellar occupants Queen Street Tiger Bay in a must-win encounter for both teams.
The final matchup of the night at 21:45hrs will be clash of the undefeated group-B sides when second positioned Albouystown opposes leaders Sparta Boss in what promises to be a highly charged showdown.
Winner of the tournament will collect $500,000 and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 and the correspondingly accolade.
Other sponsors of the event include the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) of Guyana and Trophy Stall.
