Miner gets $500,000 bail on attempted murder charge

Eon Archibald, the miner who was arraigned in June on an attempted murder charge, was yesterday granted $500,000 bail at a city court.

Archibald, 40, of Lot 91 East La Penitence Housing Scheme, was represented by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat, who informed the court that his client, during the altercation, had been defending himself against the complainant, Dwayne Morris.

Archibald was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 by Magistrate Ann McLennan and was ordered to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday until the completion of his trial. He is to return to court on September 29 for the continuation of the matter.

In June, Archibald appeared before the then chief magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, where he was charged with wounding Morris with the intent to murder him. Although no details were presented to the court regarding the circumstances of the matter, it was then reported that the victim was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital with wounds to his left rib and his right hand.
