Spay dogs and cats

Dear Editor,

On July 19, 2015 you published a letter to the editor about a beautiful dog named Cross. On the day the letter was published Cross’s life was cut short by a speeding vehicle while on a Sunday outing to the seawall with her beloved owner. The following Monday I went to see Cross and got the devastating news. Her owner could not stop crying; he had a vigil and shrine set up in her honour.

On a later visit, Cross’s neighbour took me for a walk three houses away where I saw a dog kennel with a sweet dog inside; as luck would have it I got to meet Lucky, one of Cross’s daughters. Lucky was well named as she had been kidnapped but showed up back after more than two weeks, sick and underfed. I gave the owners some food (donated by Ian Tenneesee), shampoo, worm tablets, food bowls and asked them to bathe her. I returned two days later and she looked much better. They said she was making too many puppies and wanted her to be spayed. In early September, I picked up Lucky and took her to Dr Bassoodeo’s clinic to be spayed and vaccinated. Yesterday, I visited Lucky and she is looking good, although still a bit undernourished. I think Cross would be proud of her daughter.

Thanking my animal angels for helping us to control the dog population.

Question: How can one person save 100 homeless cats?

Answer: It’s is easy. Just spay one….taken from Pinterest.
