Granger met business community in Ontario

Dear Editor,

President David Granger met with the business community and potential investors at Riverstone Golf Club in Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 13, 2015. It was an interesting meeting which was well attended by people of all ethnic backgrounds. Many issues were dealt with in relation to agriculture, mining, crime, education and other social issues affecting the country.

Guyanese were encouraged to go back and invest to help boost the country’s economy. The President also touched on the talks with Dr Bharrat Jagdeo and emphasized the need for cooperation among the political parties for the betterment of the entire country and its people.

Many questions were posed to the President in relation to the various sectors which are being affected by global competition, for example, gold, rice and sugar. The President said that value added needed to be looked at for most of our products, and his government was willing to make way for such ventures.

Emphasis was placed on no nonsense on kickbacks, bribes and corruption.

Minister Amna Ally was in attendance.

Yours faithfully,

Andrieko Basir
