Corentyne mechanic found dead outside friend’s home

Police are investigating the death of a Crabwood Creek mechanic, who was found dead on the bridge in front of a friend’s home on Thursday.

Dead is Ganesh Permaul, 29, of Lot 32 Grant 1803 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne.

His friend, who said he discovered Permaul’s body after returning home, is in police custody.

A police source said the man told investigators that he went out on Thursday to conduct business. The friend, who said they were drinking together the night before, recalled leaving Permaul on the veranda and he claimed that the man appeared to be okay. On his return, he found him on his bridge. He observed that Permaul was motionless and suspected him to be dead. As a result, he immediately summoned the police from the Springlands Police Station.

Permaul’s body is currently at the Skeldon Hospital mortuary and the police said they are awaiting the results of the autopsy for the cause of death.

However, Permaul’s family was told that he was beaten to death.

“He was beaten to death by two guys… he was found outside the guy yard yesterday. Relatives called us with the tragic news… we need justice,” Rakesh Permaul, the dead man’s only brother, said from New York yesterday.

“His body was found semi-naked with multiple marks of violence… and covered in blood… he was murdered in the house then drag out and left outside the yard… we not sure the reason why but he was drinking with the two guys… he normally hang out with them,” he added.

Rakesh described his brother as a fairly quiet person but noted that he would drink a lot with friends.
