Murder probe launched in Brazilians in swamp discovery

A murder investigation has been launched by the police following the results of the post-mortem examinations conducted on the bodies of two Brazilians found in a swamp in Aramau Backdam, Cuyuni River, according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum.

The police in a press release issued on Monday had stated that around 14:30 hrs on Sunday the bodies of Jose Carlos Barboda Araujo, 45, and Adonias Ferreira, 37, were found in a swamp at Aramau Backdam, Cuyuni River in a decomposed state. A police source has informed Stabroek News that the post-mortem examinations revealed that one of the men died as a result as a wound he sustained from a sharp object, while the other died from a gunshot wound.

As such, the source said, the deaths are being treated as murders and an investigation has been launched
