About fifty families at Zorg-en-Hoop, West Bank Berbice, are to be relocated to a safer area since their houses are directly under a 69KV power line, GINA said today.
This decision was made following a visit by the Minister responsible for Housing, Keith Scott,to several housing schemes in Region #5 yesterday, GINA added.
The families,who have been squatting for years on a reserve, live in small wooden houses surrounded by swamp and high bushes. They lack basic facilities such as electricity and water supply, and proper drainage.
