Youths wounded, robbed in Sophia gang attack

Three youths were brutalised and robbed after they tried to confront one of the persons who robbed their friend in Sophia on Wednesday night.

Jaleel Jackson, 17, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, was making his way home on his bicycle when he was chased by four men. “I see the four guys and they try to tackle me and they end up grabbing me and tekking away me phone,” Jackson told Stabroek News.

He said he then went home and told friends what occurred and they went to the area where he was robbed and they saw one of the men.

“After we go back, we saw one of them and we brackle he and he run in a yard and then a whole set a them come out and we try to run away but they ketch we,” Jackson added.

He said about 15 men surrounded them and beat them with various objects.

“They just start beating me, with spade, cutlass, they hands and everything. And one of me friends barely escape and run away and a lady come out and save me,” Jackson added.

The badly beaten teen was then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated for several chops about his body, including his face, and hand, and lacerations to his head. One of his other friends was also chopped in his back. He was later discharged from the hospital.
