Three dead in separate accidents

Three people are now dead after three separate accidents yesterday and on Saturday morning.

Kishin Mangelani, 76, of Bel Air Village, was making his way across Regent Street, near the Shell Gas Station yesterday morning when he was struck down by an oncoming car.

According to an eyewitness, Mangelani was hurrying to cross the road around 6.15am and had only looked in the western direction before he crossed. “He didn’t look in both direction and he try to hurry cross the road and to bundle into the car,” the person said, recounting that the car didn’t hit the man head on, but the side of the vehicle collided with him.

The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Additionally, three persons were in a vehicle in the vicinity of Yarrowkabra when an accident occurred that claimed the life of one of the passengers, Delicia Simpson, of Port Kaituma. The driver of the vehicle, Dwayne Loaffe and another occupant were subsequently rushed to a private hospital where they were admitted and treated. They are currently in a stable condition.

Also, a pedal cyclist who was knocked down by a speeding vehicle on Saturday night succumbed yesterday morning to his injuries. Stabroek News had reported that the man, who is still unidentified, was riding along the Good Hope Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara when he was struck down by a car.
