Young Chanderpaul, Johnson, Hetmeyer excel at fitness test

Defending Professional Cricket League (PCL) Four-Day champions the Guyana Jaguars continued their pre-season build up with yet another fitness test which was conducted yesterday morning at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).

Beep Test but a bit faster paced and is a mandatory requirement of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) as well as the vertical jump which was also conducted indoor.

Top results came from Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Leon Johnson, Shimron Hetmyer who smashed the test by recording terrific times.

They then followed up the usual outdoor session held at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda with a 40-metre sprint and other cardio regimen.

With the 2015/16 PCL tourney bowling off at on November 6, the Jags are likely to step up their training regimes.

As well as the simulation matches which are mostly carried out Mondays through Thursdays with outdoor sessions at GCC, they will undergo gym sessions at the National Aquatic Center and indoor classes geared towards educating the team on the importance of carrying themselves as ambassadors for Guyana.
