The Guyana Defence Force yesterday continued a planned series of route marches as part of its training preparations for its upcoming Force Exercise. According to a statement issued by the GDF, ranks drawn from the fighting arms of the force marched in Region Six in two cohorts; one group marched from Line Path, Corentyne to Springlands, while the other group marched from Albion to Rose Hall.
In addition, the GDF said this weekend the residents of the Berbice community will see the servicemen in other roles as military expos are planned at Skeldon, Corentyne and Liverpool Corentyne today and tomorrow, respectively. These activities will feature parachute jumping, band concerts and medical outreaches. The GDF said it is envisioned that through these efforts residents will be imbued with an increased sense of nationalism and will be motivated to join the Reserve Subunits in their region.
