Funding available under Aussie programme

The Australian Direct Aid Programme (DAP) is inviting persons to apply for its 2015-16 round of grants.

DAP is a small grants programme funded by the Australian Government and managed by its High Commission in Port of Spain, Trinidad, a release from the High Commission said. It was created to assist NGOs, community groups and local government access funding for the implementation of small scale sustainable development projects. The period for applications was opened on 21 September and will run to 16th October 2015.

Lucrecia Birch, Officer of the Direct Aid Programme said that this year’s DAP cycle will focus on public health and non-communicable diseases, agriculture and food security, coral reef, climate change and fisheries initiatives also water and sanitation. Last year in Guyana, DAP funded two projects, the Bina Hill Water Conservation Project in the North Rupununi and the Rights of Children – Combatting Sexual Violence in Indigenous Communities from Mining.
