U-11 football continues today

The fourth annual Petra Organisation/ Courts Pee-Wee Under-11 football tournament will continue today at the Thirst Park ground with the final round of matchups.

The event which concluded November 15th at the same venue, will feature 24 schools competing in a round-robin format featuring six groups comprising of four teams.

On conclusion of the group stage, the top two teams from each group as well as the best four third positioned teams will advance to the round of 16 knock-out stage.

Following the conclusion of the round of 16 stage, the losing eight schools will compete for positions nine through 16 until the conclusion of the event while the victorious eight schools will compete for the semi-final positions.

In the opening round of matches at 10:00hrs, F.E Pollard will oppose Marian Academy while St Margaret’s will oppose St. Ambrose. At 10:45hrs, Comenius Primary will oppose East La Penitence while title holders Stella Maris will lock horns with Winfer Garden.

In the 11:30hrs round of matches, Enterprise will oppose St. Gabriel’s while Smith Memorial will tackle St. Agnes. The 12:15hrs round of fixtures will witness School of the Nations opposing St. Angela’s and West Ruimveldt facing off with J.E. Burnham Primary.

At 13:00hrs, North Georgetown will engage St. Sidwell’s while St. Pius will lock horns with Rama Krishna. In the final two matches at 13:45hrs, South Ruimveldt will tackle St. Stephen’s while Sophia Primary will oppose Tucville Primary.

Winners of the tourney will receive the championship trophy, medals, a set of team uniforms and certificates while the runners-up will collect the second place trophy, medals, six footballs and certificates.

The third-placed side will receive the respective trophy, four balls and certificates while fourth-placed will be presented with a trophy and certificates. The most discipline team will also be presented with a trophy.

On the individual side, the most valuable player, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper will each receive a trophy and football cleats.
