Police issue wanted bulletin for toddler murder suspect

The police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Marc Angoy, suspect in the murder of toddler Arian Gill, who was shot dead at her Eastville, Annandale, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home on Sunday.

According to the wanted bulletin, Angoy’s last known address was Buzz Bee Dam, Craig, East Bank Demerara (EBD) while he is 45 years old and of African descent.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Angoy is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 229-2557, 229-2702, 225-6411, 225-8196, 911 or the nearest police station; all information will be treated confidentially.

While Gill was shot in her back, according to the police, 12-year-old Ashley Wellington was wounded to her left foot.

Stabroek News had previously reported that Shelly Norton, grandmother of the dead toddler and mother of Wellington was the intended target since she had recently ended an abusive relationship with Angoy, after over three years.

Norton had told this newspaper that she was at home with Gill and Wellington and both the doors of the house were tightly secured. She had said that she was resting in her bedroom, while the children were in the living room watching television when she heard several gunshots.

Ariel Norton, mother of the dead toddler, said yesterday that at the time of the incident she was in the kitchen of the said house cooking.

The grieving mother who is completely traumatized, said, “I was cooking and I hear the gate open. When I push my head out of the back door and I see he [Angoy] coming towards the door.” The woman said sensing something was not right she hurriedly secured the door. “…After he realize he can’t come in from there, he walk to the window and push he hand then I just start hear shots.” She added that she remained in the kitchen, frozen with shock while shots were fired in the direction of her sister. “I heard baby [Arian] crying and I saw Ashley running with she in she hand to the bedroom where mommy [Shelly] was. Then I just see them running to cover in the bathroom,” she recalled.

She said after the shooter escaped she rushed to her child and saw her bleeding from the shoulder.

When asked if she was aware that her mother was in an abusive relationship, Ariel said yes, adding that she had tried many times to get her out of it but Angoy always found a way to get back to her. She said while she and her family were fearful, they never expected things would have reached such an extent.

Meanwhile, a fearful Shelly told this newspaper yesterday that Angoy had called her cell phone two times yesterday afternoon informing her that “it is not yet over.” She said he had also texted one of her sons’ phone issuing threats. She said Wellington was currently in a stable condition in hospital.
