Better Hope businesswoman beaten, robbed

A businesswoman was gun-butted by gunmen who attacked her as she was driving into her Better Hope, East Coast Demerara yard early yesterday morning.

Police said in a press release that around 00:45 hrs three men, two of whom were armed with handguns, robbed and injured Novaha Boodhoo, 36, a businesswoman of 88 Pulwari Street, Better Hope, ECD.

This newspaper visited the address given by police but the occupants said that the woman in question is unknown to them and they were unaware of such an incident occurring there.

According to the police, investigations reveal that the victim was about to enter her yard in her motor car PLL 4164 when she was confronted by the men who relieved her of $100,000 and 3 cell phones.

The men then attempted to steal her vehicle but she threw away the car keys and raised an alarm. The release said it was at that stage that one of the men struck the victim several times about her head and face with a firearm after which they made good their escape.

No arrests have made yet and the investigations are in progress.
