On top of that, having The Giftland Mall as a venue provided the opportunity for all members of the society to enjoy an evening of fashion and fistic fury that exceeded the expectations of all who attended and those who viewed it on national television.”

The Vice President of the Marketing company stated that the card which showcased the talent of eight amateur and eight professional pugilists was a shot in the arm for the fistic sport locally and he looks forward to the hosting of more events at the edifice which will perhaps boost tourism in Guyana.

“It was a showcase of what Guyana is capable of overall, I was very impressed being that it was our very first show fight. Everybody came out. I just wanted to thank all who attended, the sponsors, both government and businesses, and their pledge of continued support as we intend to make Guyana the “Las Vegas” of the Caribbean and the start of a whole new sports tourism industry.”

President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) Peter Abdool told this publication yesterday that Saturday’s event “was the start of many cards to come.”

Hussain emphasized that a successful card was very important for the boxing board, NexGen and the Giftland Mall being that it was the first.

“We wanted to give the boxing team here and the people of Guyana something they haven’t seen before. I’m going to do everything to keep this venue as our little Las Vegas.” Hussain then disclosed that plans are in the pipeline for another mega card on Boxing Day.
