Workers accuse contractor of withholding payment for work at State House

Two men have sought the intervention of the Ministry of Social Protection to get wages they say are being withheld from them by their former employer.

Deon Howard and Quacy McAdams say they were promised $7,000 per day by contractor Gordon Saul, who employed them as electricians.

After consistently requesting their pay, since they have families to provide for, the men said Saul gave one of them $20,000 and the other $30,000. They say they are owed payment for five weeks of work, which included doing electrical installation at State House.

However, the men, who have since been fired by Saul, allege that the contractor then refused to pay them the outstanding amount, resulting in them reporting to the Ministry of Labour.
