Social Services staff urged to deliver quality service

The Probation and Social Services Department of the Ministry of Social Protection on Tuesday engaged its staff in an interactive workshop on improving the quality of service provided to citizens.

The session, which was hosted at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, allowed the staff to re-focus, re-energise and recommit to its mandate of ensuring the protection of all citizens whilst efficiently dealing with their issues, a release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said.

Participants included the Minster of Social Protection Volda Lawrence, Permanent Secretary Lorene Baird, other officials from the ministry and the Probation and Social Services Department as well as special regional representatives. In her address, Minister Lawrence called on the staff to always be professional and not to shirk from their responsibilities when confronting the challenges faced by the department.

She advised them to apply teamwork as an integral aspect of their strategy to maximise and meet the department’s objectives.

Noting that officials and staff continuing to operate individually would lead to confusion and misunderstanding, Lawrence said, “Sharing our knowledge does not rob us if anything, but leads to the enhancement and empowerment of all.”
