Woman dies after canter skids off Demerara Harbour Bridge

Gangadai Persaud, a mother of one, is now dead after the canter her husband was driving careened off of the Demerara Harbour Bridge this morning.

The 22 year old and her husband Rico Ramotar had just left their Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo home and were travelling on the bridge heading to the Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, market when he lost control of the vehicle which skidded off into the river. Persaud was buckled in, sleeping in the passenger seat and as a result was unable to escape and was pinned in the vehicle in the water for several hours.
