Granger, Greenidge for South America-Arab summit

President David Granger and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge are scheduled to depart Guyana today to attend the Fourth Summit of the South America and Arab Countries (ASPA), which will be held tomorrow at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

A release from the Ministry of the Presidency yesterday said that the delegation is being flown to Riyadh, courtesy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Also on the delegation from Guyana is Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Audrey Waddell, the release said.

The summit is a bi-regional mechanism for cooperation and political coordination, held every three years. It gathers the 22 member states of the Arab League and 12 countries of South America.

Attendance at this meeting has been given as one of the reasons for the postponement of a sitting of Parliament which had been scheduled for Thursday.
