Two shot at Coverden after rowdy patron tries to disarm cop – police

At 0100h. today, police ranks responded to a report of disorderly behaviour by a number of patrons at a night spot at Coverden, East Bank Demerara.

During efforts by the police to arrest one of the persons who was allegedly involved in the fracas, the police said that a scuffle ensued between the man and an armed policeman, during which the man tried to disarm the policeman and a round was discharged. The bullet hit the man to his abdomen and also struck a female, Odessa Glasgow 27 years, of Belle Alliance, Essequibo coast, who was a waitress at the night spot, to her right thigh.

Odessa Glasgow and the man who has been identified as Linden Samuels 33 years, of Soesdyke, EBD, have been admitted to the GPHC.

Investigations are in progress.
