Senior, new attorneys to be honoured by Bar groups

Ten senior and twenty-eight recently qualified lawyers will be honoured at the 35th Award Dinner and Dance being hosted by the Guyana Bar Association and the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers at the Georgetown Club today.

According to a press release, those being awarded for long service to the profession and the public are Elvy Overton-Edwards, Sheila Chapman, C M Llewellyn John, Keith Massiah SC, Ashton Chase SC, Joseph A King SC, Sase Narine SC, Rex McKay SC, Justices Lennox Perry and George Pompey.

Currently, John holds the distinction of being the longest serving attorney-at-law having been admitted to the bar since October 6, 1951.

Senior Counsel Miles Fitzpatrick will give the charge to the new attorneys-at-law while, top Hugh Wooding graduate for 2015, Maria Luckhoo will respond to the charge on behalf of the newly admitted attorneys.

They are Eleanor Luckhoo, Lashona Andrews, Savannah Barnwell, Omadatt Chandan, Tamieka Clarke, Tiffany David, Kadeem Davis, Excellence Dazzell, Siand Dhurjon, Charlene Fung-A-Fat, Rocky Hanoman, Tunna Hardy, Tiffany Hohenkirk, Olayne Joseph, Stefan Knights, Thandi McAllister, Tracy Marks, Alaira Murphy, Tejprakash Persaud, Jochebed Pollard, Naresh Poonai, Randalyn Rowe, Nirvana Singh, Everton Singh-Lammy, Darren Wade, Keiza Williams, Telisha Williams and Michael Xavier.
