Cemetery Rd accident victim critical

The elderly man who was involved in an early morning accident on New Year’s Day which claimed the life of his comrade and caused injuries to a woman, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

This was according to a close relative Donna Waldron, who stated that the 62-year-old Brian Devine of East La Penitence is in “bad shape” at the hospital.

She further explained that Devine has so far received 4 pints of blood and is in need of more and is being aided by oxygen equipment.

The man sustained broken legs, broken ribs, a broken hip, a fractured neck, head injuries and a damaged eye

According to reports, Devine and the now dead 61-year-old George Baker along with Anaynasa Thorne, 18, were standing at a stall on the eastern side of the eastern carriageway on Cemetery Road when motor car PNN 7977 ploughed into them.

The police issued a press release saying that their investigations revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle after he suffered a punctured tyre and is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Efforts to contact Thorne to inquire about her condition were futile.
