Gold miner charged with possession of ecstasy

A gold miner was yesterday granted $75,000 bail after he denied having a quantity of ecstasy in his possession.

Lewis Fletchman, of 76 Garnett Street, Campbellville, found himself before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at a city court accused of having 1.89 grammes of ecstasy. Fletchman pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the man’s lawyer, Paul-Fung-A-Fat, the ecstasy was found at a house Fletchman is renting and it could have belonged to anyone.

There was no objection to bail by prosecutor Michael Grant and the court set bail at $75,000. Fletchman will return to court today before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
