Linden man partially paralysed after being stabbed by teen

A Linden man is now partially paralysed after being stabbed in the back by his girlfriend’s 15-year-old son.

Winston Christiani, 47, is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital, and he said yesterday he is beginning to regain feeling on his left leg, while his right leg remains lifeless.

The teen has gone into hiding since the attack.

Christiani said the stabbing was due to a misunderstanding between him and his girlfriend on the day before the incident. He explained that after he came home last Wednesday, he gave his girlfriend money to buy groceries. She left for the shop but did not return for some time. As a result, he went to look for her and he claimed that he found her in a shop drinking with friends.

The next day, Christiani said, he refused to give his girlfriend any money because he had been left hungry while she had “sport out” his money the previous day. His actions, the man said, angered the woman, who then hid his cellphone in her crotch.

Since he was expecting a call from an overseas relative, Christiani said that he ended up in a scuffle with his girlfriend to repossess his phone. It was during that scuffle that he said he lost all feeling in both of his legs. Afterwards, he realised that the teen had come from behind him and stabbed him in the back.
