Cummings Lodge man died from single shot to head

Quincy Bowman, who was found on a bridge on Monday near the old Busta Factory in Festival City, North Ruimveldt, died of a single gunshot wound to his head, his brother Andrew Bowman said on Wednesday.

An autopsy performed on Wednesday revealed that Bowman died of shock and haemorrhaging to the brain due to a gunshot wound.

The Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara clothes vendor was shot early in the morning and was found lying dead on the bridge, clad in a ¾ white pants and a burgundy hooded top. His body was discovered by a woman who was crossing the bridge.

One resident said she was awakened from her sleep by gunshots that morning around 5am. She said she heard a man holler and then the place went silent. She noted that she did not look outside to see what had happened because it was a norm to hear gunfire in the area.

Andrew Bowman said on Wednesday that he was still baffled as to why his brother was gunned down. He said his brother was a very quiet individual and would not be involved in anything unlawful. “I’m still to find out what he was doing in that place that hour,” he said.

Bowman noted that his brother had also worked as an entertainer. The family is presently making arrangement for his funeral.

Police are yet to make an arrest in the murder.
