RNCF awards annual scholarships

The Radio’s Needy Children’s Fund (RNCF) recently awarded scholarships to ten children – one from each administrative region of Guyana – selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

According to a RNCF press release, seven of the ten children were in attendance at a presentation ceremony held at the NCN studios. Awards along with hampers of school supplies donated by Massy Technology were handed over to Twyla Torres of Region One, Jaheim Odingo Karl of Region Two, Amisha Chatterpaul of Region Three, Meena Kumarie Gobin of Region Five, Antonio Ramcharran of Region Six, Shawn Williams of Region Seven and Divannye Kallipersaud of Region Ten. Absent were Treccian Roberts of Region Eight, Lucas Thomas of Region Nine and Shakina Jackman of Region Four.

Meanwhile, the first prize of a one carat diamond bracelet went to Frank De Abreau when the RNCF drew its fund raising raffle recently.

The release said the second prize and third prizes of a return trip to New York/Canada and a return trip to Grenada, were won by Perry De Souza and Pevria De Souza respectively.

Consolation prizes of a 32” Samsung television, one 7” Samsung tablet and an Aroma Ricker Cooker/Food Steamer were secured by Kellisa Rodrigues, Abdool Mohamed and Romana Payne, the release said.
