St. Lucian women jailed over cocaine in dildos

Two St. Lucian women were yesterday jailed for four years after admitting to trying to smuggle cocaine concealed in dildos that were inserted into their vaginas.

Appearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts were Chermisa Wheeler, 38, and Andree Willy, 43, who were charged with possession of narcotics for trafficking after they were caught by Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers at the Cheddi Jagan Inter-national Airport, Timehri.

After pleading guilty to the crime, the women were sentenced and also fined $268,000.

According to the prosecution, on Wednesday, November 18th, the two women were outgoing passengers to St. Lucia on a Caribbean Airlines flight BW 524 and they were observed by CANU officers acting suspiciously as they were about to approach the security scanners.

The court heard that when the officers searched the women, they found the cocaine concealed in dildos that were inserted in the women’s vaginas.

When weighed, the cocaine in the dildos in the possession of Wheeler and Willy amounted to 88 grammes and 298 grammes, respectively.

Wheeler and Willy pleaded guilty to the charge read to them by city magistrate Judy Latchman. Wheeler was fined $79,200 together with 48 months imprisonment, while Willy was fined $268,200 together with 50 months imprisonment.
