Linden/Georgetown renew hostilities as Road to Mecca commences

Linden and Georgetown will renew hostilities when the second annual Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) ‘Road to Mecca’ National Club Championship officially commences today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Mandela Avenue.

The opening fixture of the card will put Half Mile Bulls against Pepsi Sonics from 16:30hrs while the second fixture will see Georgetown Masters and Kashif and Shanghai Kings doing battle from 18:30hrs.

In the third fixture, Plaisance Guardians will faceoff with Amelia Wards Jets from 20:30hrs while the final matchup of the night will witness Trinity Grid Pacesetters locking horns with Wismar Pistons from 22:30hrs.

Winners of the tourney will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $200 000, $150 000 and $75 000 correspondingly.

The tourney will also be used as part of the selection process for the upcoming international series against Bermuda slated to be hosted in the month of March.
