EBFA adopts new constitution

The East Bank Football Association (EBFA) on Monday held a meeting which lasted no longer than four hours and resulted in their constitution being adopted.

According to an official press release from Secretary Franklin Wilson, “The General Council of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) on Monday evening met and adopted a new constitution that will govern the administration of the sport in the association going forward.

“As mandated by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and guided by the world governing body FIFA, the EBFA’s affiliates which included Kuru Kururu Warriors, Soesdyke Falcons, Grove Hi Tech, Diamond United, Herstelling Raiders, Mocha Champs and Agricola Red Triangle met for just over three hours at Tapie Bar, Herstelling.

“After being guided through the document by Secretary Franklin Wilson, the new constitution on the East Bank was unanimously adopted. The new executive will be an 11-member body constituted of a president, two vice-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, an assistant secretary/treasurer and five committee members.”

According to the correspondence the two year term for the life of each executive was maintained with a new clause (Article 35:4) stipulating that the officers may seek re-election at the following year’s AGM; however, no member of the executive shall serve for more than 2 (two) consecutive terms.

“EBFA President Wayne Francois complimented members present for their commitment and support in charting a new way forward for the association in support of the overall forward thrust for the sport in Guyana”.

“A date for the election of office bearers as stipulated by the new document will be set shortly following a meeting of the executive committee.” Stated the release.
