According to club president and former national player Dwain Dick, the aim of the tournament is to raise awareness for the sport in a general sense.

Dick said the tournament, which will be known as the Gold Cup tournament, will cater for a wide cross section of players.

Next month’s tournament comes hot on the heels of last month’s Play to Conquer tournament which was part sponsored by Director of Sport Christopher Jones and was a smashing success.

This tournament, unlike the previous one staged by the club, will have

Open men and women’s categories and according to Dick, the multi category tournament will have trophies at stake in each category along with possibly cash incentives. The categories to be contested are Under nine Open, Under 11, 13, 15 and 18 boys and girls, Under 21 Open, B Class Open, and Over 40 and 50 Open.

The tournament is being sponsored by Banks DIH Limited, P & P Insurance Brokers, Guyson’s Engineering, Bakewell, Trophy Stall, Mike’s Copy Center, Hurricane Enterprises, Sambora Communications Incorporation Vegetable Gardens Inc., La Pink Beauty Salon and Make-up Studio, Netsurf Telecommunications, BAC Courier, Cornbread Hangout Bar and Fish Shop, The Business School and Westfield Preparatory School.
