According to a release, the golfers enjoyed the conditions which included fine weather, superb tee-boxes, fairways, greens, bunkers and as such great scores were the expectation of the day.

“It was an excellent day. I felt good while playing. All my plays, driver shots and fairway shots landed the ball in the centre of the fairway, so that caused me to have a good finish,” Griffi commented after the win.

Young Ramroop, winner of the previous Saturday’s tournament and son of Club President Shyam Ramroop, declared:” I played well but I missed short putts for about five holes! If not for that I would have had an even better score.”

Both Griffi and Ramroop turned in a net 63, but a better back nine score for Griffi edged him into the winner’s seat.

At the prizes distribution ceremony Club President Ramroop thanked Managing Director and Proprietor of Trophy Stall Ramesh Sunich for continuing his annual sponsorship of the tournament.

A significant event in the club’s history was the public announcement that the club’s manager, Alicia Bess (who had been crowned first runner up in the Miss Guyana Universe pageant of 2013) covered Guyana and the Lusignan Golf Club in glory when she was crowned the second runner up at the Miss Global International pageant in Trinidad.

All present were high in praise of Bess for her achievements and for the professionalism and excellent flavour she has brought to the Lusignan Golf Club as its manager, the release stated. There will be no tournament at the club this coming weekend as several of Guyana’s golfers will be in Suriname for Golf Club Paramaribo’s Republic Bank Invitational 2015 tournament October 3-4.

Those participating in the tournament are :Troy Cadogan, Mike Gayadin, Brian Hackett, Dr Philbert London, Parmanand Persaud, Patanjalee Persaud, Lakeram Ramsundar, Patrick Prashad, John Tracy, Kalyan Tiwari and Shanella Webster.

The Guyana Open will held on October 31 and November 1.
