He also revealed that the format of the event will be altered, declaring the overall points winner will be crowned following the conclusion of the three stages.

Hutson added that the event will feature no specific categories, stating that each participant will be placed in the ‘Open Category’ as athletes from the age of 16 and below will now be allowed to participate.

According to Hutson, the athlete that tallies the most points during the three legs will pocket an additional US$1500 along with the overall crown, stating this will occur through the use of a points system.

“We are appreciative and grateful to Banks DIH Limited for answering the call as our first sponsors.”

Banks DIH Limited Brand Manager of Rainforest Waters and PowerAde Errol Nelson during a brief comment said: “Our sponsorship of this South American 10k race demonstrates our steadfast involvement in the development of sports in Guyana and in particular athletics.”

He urged the fans to come out and support the long standing international venture while declaring that he hopes the event is a success and that it remains a staple on the calendar of activities for the athletics fraternity.
