With the group stage round now completed, the round-of-16 stage in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Georgetown Championship will commence today at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac on Mandela Avenue.
In the opening fixture at 19:00hrs, East Front Road will lock horns with Upsetters while the second fixture at 19:30hrs will witness North East La Penitence clashing with Stevedore Housing Scheme.
At 20:00hrs Bent Street will come up against Old School Ballers while at 20:30hrs, West Back Road will face off with defending champion North Ruimveldt from 20:30hrs in the fourth fixture.
In the fifth showdown at 21:00hrs, former holder Leopold Street will do battle with newcomers Channel-9 Warriors while former titlist Back Circle will face off with Jamoon Drive from 21:30hrs in the sixth affair.
The final two fixtures of the night will pit West Front Road-Gold is Money against Shopping Plaza at 22:00hrs and Sparta Boss against Holmes Street Tiger Bay from 22:30hrs.
Following the conclusion of the round of 16 stage, the quarterfinal round will commence on Friday December 4th at the same venue.
Winner of the event will pocket $500,000, the championship trophy and the right to represent the zone at the national tourney while the second, third and fourth placed units will collect $200,000, $150,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
