A Port Kaituma farmer has landed himself in prison on an attempted murder charge after a domestic dispute allegedly broke out when his mother attempted to move herself and a man into his residence.
Michael Robertson, whom attorney Peter Hugh identified as a poultry farmer, was yesterday arraigned in a city court on a charge that on December 30, at Oronoque Village, Port Kaituma, he wounded Joseph King with intent to commit murder.
Robertson, 27, was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Hugh told the court that Robertson’s mother had brought the gentleman to his house and the two tried to “install themselves” there.
The attorney made an application for bail, while stating that Robertson has been in custody since Thursday.
Hugh mentioned the fact that the matter would have to be dealt with at the Matthews Ridge Court, which he pointed out only sits every three months. Furthermore, the prosecution was unable to report on the condition of the victim, having stated only that King was hospitalized.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore denied the bail application and adjourned the matter to January 7th, when Robertson will appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Court 1.
