Pastry vendor remanded on ganja trafficking charge

Jermaine Rowe, a pastry vendor, was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared before a city court on a charge of cannabis trafficking.

Rowe, 39, pleaded not guilty to a charge which stated that on January 19, at Yarrow Dam, West Ruimveldt, he had 606 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

The narcotics were allegedly discovered in a haversack in the man’s apartment after a search was conducted.The matter has been adjourned to February 19, when the defendant will return for his next hearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
