The trial was expected to continue yesterday at the Providence Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Leron Daley. However, due to commitments in the High Court, special prosecutor Nigel Hughes was unable to attend the hearing.

Roselle Tilbury-Douglas of Alliance Road, Timheri, East Bank Demerara, and Devin Singh of Lot 125 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, were jointly charged with assaulting Harding between November 1 and November 13, 2013, at the Timehri Police Station. Singh had an additional assault charge laid against him.

At the last hearing, Harding, who has accused the police of raping him with a baton during his arrest, testified that he was repeatedly beaten while in custody at the Timehri Police Station for being disrespectful.
