Defending champs, Showstoppers through

On a night marred by unsportsmanlike conduct from Samaroo Dam’s Nathan Allicock, defending champs West Side Ballers and losing finalist Showstoppers sealed their berth to the knockout round in the 2nd annual Guinness of the Streets West Demerara event.

Staged at the Pouderoyen Tarmac on Friday, West Side Ballers downed Harmony Ballers-B 1-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 1-1. Morgan Denny netted in the 23rd minute for the winners while Keifer Adams scored in the 16th minute.

Showstoppers downed Patentia Street Ballers 2-0. Owen McGarrell and Marvin Josiah netted in the third and 25th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Samaroo Dam and Comfort Ballers encounter, Allicock was red carded in the 12th minute for spitting on an opposing player twice during the match which the former team lost 1-0 compliments of a Mark Boyce 11th minute effort.

Allicock’s behaviour led to the promoters and officials of the event issuing a three year ban to him for all Guinness of the Streets tourney following the submission of the referee’s report.

In other results, Champion Boys downed Water Street Agricola 1-0 compliments of a Kevin Rahat strike in the 13th minute while Crane Raiders downed DeKinderen United by an identical margin led by a Kevon Jones 14th minute effort.

On the other hand, Brothers United defeated Best Road Ballers 1-0 while Agricola Upsetters needled Shattaville Gunners 1-0.
