The race for the White House is heating up and already there are indications that the front runners from both sides of the political divide are getting, as it were, a run for their money.
Hillary Clinton, once thought to be the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination is now facing a tight challenge from Bernie Sanders who recently won the New Hampshire primary and nearly tied with him in Iowa.
Bernie Sanders seems to be doing particularly well among women and young voters despite the fact that he is in nearly in his mid-seventies. This must be of concern to the Hillary camp given the fact that she is a woman candidate with an age advantage and also a former First Lady and Secretary of State. Sanders appeared to be connecting with voters with his platform of increased taxes on the rich and income redistribution in favour of the lower and middle class.
On the Republican side Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are trailing behind billionaire Donald Trump who has already created an upset and is now regarded as a frontrunner given his good performance in New Hampshire.
Even though it is still a bit early in the race, the current situation seems to suggest that it may not be smooth sailing for Hillary and for the establishment candidates, in particular Jeb Bush who is struggling to remain in the race. The world is watching with interest to see which way the pendulum is swinging as we inch closer to the November presidential election.
