He stated that sometime after he got a call from one of the friends, who said, “He deh bad, he deh bad,” while referring to his brother. He later learned that his brother had an accident between 2.30am and 3am and was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital and later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He stated that his brother suffered a punctured lung, damaged kidneys, spleen and partly damaged liver, a broken knee and broken hips. He added that his brother had several blood transfusions but was not responding and subsequently passed away at around 10 am on Monday. He further stated that his brother’s companion is yet to come forward and explain to the family exactly what occurred on the day of the accident. He said she was the only other occupant in the vehicle and the only one that can explain fully what took place.

Stabroek News was told by a friend of the man, who did not want to be named, that Laurie went with the woman to visit her uncle at Mahaicony and on their way back he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole. The friend added that Laurie, who was unconscious after the crash, was rushed to the hospital by passersby. The woman’s injuries were said to be minor.

An autopsy is scheduled for today on Laurie’s body.
