Romana Sanasie, the daughter of murdered businesswoman Patricia Sanasie, testified yesterday from New York in the ongoing Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Richard Stanton, who is accused of the crime.
Romana, who has been residing in New York since her mother’s demise on January 12, 2015, testified via a Skype conference call that was set up between the Guyana Consulate in New York and the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court in Guyana, at Vigilance, East Coast Demerara.
The conference call, which was the first to be set up and conducted for a court hearing on the East Coast of Demerara, was delayed for hours due to technical difficulties from the New York end.
After the difficulties were sorted out, Sanasie was first examined by police prosecutor David Goodridge and later crossed examined by Stanton’s attorney, Mark Waldron. Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul presided over the proceedings.
Stanton, 39, of Lot 53 Princes Street, Lodge, has since been charged with killing Sanasie, 45, who was fatally shot in front of her Lot 129 Atlantic Gardens home.
The PI continues on March 8.
