Scotiabank seeing benefits from Kiddy cricket programme

Some 210 Primary Schools around Guyana will benefit from the 2016 Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)/Scotiabank Kiddy cricket programme which was launched on Wednesday

At a simple ceremony held at the GCB boardroom, GCB executives, representatives from within the Sports Ministry as well as Scotiabank, lauded the potential of this year’s endeavor.

Assistant Chief Education Officer (Primary), Baydewan Rambarran said that he was happy that Scotiabank, the GCB and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) stuck with the task of ensuring students choose a career at an early age.

GCB Assistant Territorial Development Officer (TDO) Anthony D’Andrade said, “Obviously it is believed that once the correct techniques are learnt at an early age it will positively impact on the players’ future ability to execute his/her cricketing skill.

Apart from techniques, the programme emphasises the importance of discipline, commitment among other,” he said.

Jennifer Capri, Scotia Bank’s Marketing Manager said the bank will continue supporting the sport during its stages of development.

“Scotiabank is proud of the achievements of this partnership with the West Indies Cricket Board Regionally and the GCB locally. We are seeing the benefits from the investment of money and time into this programme and we are more than happy with what we see,” she said.
