Unidentified male body found in Botanical Gardens

The body of an unidentified man was found at the Botanical Gardens yesterday afternoon and it is suspected that he may have committed suicide.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, the body of a male Indo-Guyanese who appeared to be in his 30’s, was discovered under a tree by persons relaxing in the gardens at around 4pm.

The body was clad in black jeans and a red and white jersey. A pair of boots, a hat, a pack of cigarettes and a cup containing what is suspected to be a poisonous substance was lying around him. There were no reported marks of violence about his body.

When Stabroek News arrived at the scene, police officers were already present and were awaiting the arrival of crime scene ranks to carry out investigations. After this was done, they left with several bags filled with items recovered from the scene.

A vendor who preferred not to be named, recalled seeing the man walking around the facility at around 1:30pm. According to her, he showed no signs of being depressed.

 

As the news of the discovery spread, a number of persons gathered to get a glimpse of the body. The body is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting identification while investigations are ongoing.
