Talks held on partnership agreement between Guyana, British Columbia legislatures

A meeting was held at the Parliament Office of Guyana on Monday to begin discussions about a partnership agreement between the Parliament of Guyana and the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

The partnership agreement is intended to enhance both legislatures through relevant deliberation of ideas and discussion of parliamentary practices and norms, which will be conducted through visits to both parliaments, a Parliament Office press release stated.

All social and cultural dynamics would be encapsulated in this agreement to establish a firm accord with both parliaments, it added.

The meeting was attended by Craig James, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada; Elizabeth Kingston, C.P.A Canada Branch Secretary; Pierre Girous, Canadian High Commissioner; Rodger Cuzner, M.P., and Yasmin Ratansi M.P., both of the House of Commons, Canada;  Dr Barton Scotland, Speaker of the National Assembly; Sherlock Isaacs, Clerk of the National Assembly; Khemraj Ramjattan, Vice-President and Minister of Public Security; and Gail Teixeira, M.P., Opposition Chief Whip.

James, the release noted, will be donating books to the Parliamentary Library at a later date and 55 soccer balls which would be received by Jermaine Figueria, M.P.
