Albouystown crash victim’s family worried over lack of information on his condition

Family members remain hopeful about the health of Orville Valentine, the Sentinel Security officer who was run over on Monday by a Hilux Truck, given a change in his medical condition; they are also concerned at the dearth of information being provided by medical staff.

Valentine, who is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital, was run over by a Toyota Hilux jeep, PRR 404, after it was hit by a Toyota Runx, PMM 2216, at the intersection of Hunter Street and Independence Boulevard, Albouystown.

As a result of the accident, Valentine sustained injuries to his left foot, left arm and ribs. His left foot is in a cast while his left arm is in a sling.

Family members yesterday expressed concern over the security guard’s condition as, according to his sister, Cloreen, “He’s not looking as bright as he used to.”

His sister further stated that her brother was to undergo surgery sometime yesterday and when she visited him he was prepared for surgery and on his way to the theatre. After leaving the hospital, she heard that the surgery was cancelled because his blood count was low.

Cloreen expressed her frustration at the fact that the family was unsure why he needed the surgery. She added that she was also unsure why his blood count was low since he had received blood twice yesterday.

The family hopes that Valentine will make a speedy recovery but was yesterday uncertain about the surgery.

When Stabroek News first made contact with the family, his brother, Maryland Valentine, had stated that the individuals who hit his brother were taken into custody.
