Sir Leon Lessons emphatically clinched the Georgetown South Zone Championship, mauling Lodge Secondary 15-0 in the final of the Digicel Schools Football Championships yesterday at the Camp Ayanganna ground.

It was carnage from the first minute as Sir Leon Lessons led 5-0 at the end of the first period. Keifer Brandt top scored with six strikes in the 33rd, 45th, 53rd, 61st, 85th and 87th minute while David George bagged a helmet-trick in the 17th, 24th, 39th and 55th minute.

Assisting in the rout was Sylvester Richardson with a double in the 71st and 81st minute while solitary conversions from Adrian Aaron, Jaleel Lancelot and Jaleel Evans in the 63rd, 65th and 78th minute apiece sealed the result.

Adding further insult to their loss, Lodge Secondary conceded two red cards in the 68th and 72nd minute in the form of Isaiah Peters and Mark Reece respectively.

Due to the result, Sir Leon Lessons walked away with medals, the championship trophy and new kits while Lodge Secondary collected the runners-up accolade.

The championships, which will be played in the traditional knockout format, will be staged in every region and will end on July 31st at the National Stadium in Providence.

Christianburg/Wismar Secondary has held a stranglehold on the event as they are current four time defending champions. The other victor of the event in the country was Government Technical Institute who won the inaugural championship.
