In the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, in George-town, Vibert Peters yesterday pleaded guilty to the charge that on July 17, at St Ignatius Village, he had in his possession 110 grammes of cannabis for trafficking.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Neville Jeffers, the police, while on patrol in the village, observed Peters on his pedal cycle acting in a suspicious manner.  Peters had with him a black plastic bag that was tied to his cycle at the time.

Jeffers said the police stopped Peters and conducted a search on him and in the bag ranks stumbled across leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be that of cannabis. According to the prosecutor, Peters, under caution, told the officers that he was carrying the drugs for a friend.

When the accused was given a chance to speak, he admitted to the court that he was indeed taking the marijuana to a friend.
