Dear Editor,
Some might fail a drug test, some athletes will be banned from competing, tears will flow, some might fall, some might be disqualified, the old guards will change, the upstarts could create major upsets, batons might fall etc at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which starts in a matter of days.
For the record, I have always been Team USA to the end and I am all for clean sports. Many have disappointed me in failing drug tests with Team USA and the rest of the world, but I have learnt that it comes with the package.
It was my expectation that Guyana would finally have a huge number of athletes in representation, but unfortunately that is not the case. However, I will be grateful to witness Guyana’s Flag among the others during the opening and closing ceremonies. I will also cheer Team Guyana.
I say to the sports ambassadors and officials of Guyana to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, do have a memorable experience and make Guyana proud in every aspect of your representation. Some can only dream of and imagine attendance to the world’s highest level of sports.
