Bandits rob Vreed-en-Hoop supermarket, shoppers

Three men pulled off a daring daylight robbery early yesterday when they held-up a supermarket and its customers at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Beig Xian Ling, owner of the Universal Supermarket, told Stabroek News that around 10.30am, three men, armed with guns, stormed his business and robbed his store.

The man related that the men beat his brother and relieved him of about $300,000 that was in the cash register along with several cellular phones.

The patrons who were in the store at the time were also relieved of cash and their phones.

The police are currently searching for the men, who reportedly escaped on foot.
